Former Director General of the defunct Cameroon airlines (Camair) Yves Michel Fotso is suing Cameroon minister of Finance Ousamnne Mey at the court of Arbitration in Abidjan -Ivory Coast.According to information relayed to alafnet.com the Liquidation file of the Camair is not yet close and Michel Fotso is unhappy that MINFI reluctance is impacting court decision against him. The former head of the defunct airline had demanded the abandonment of the prosecution on the liquidator of Camair.
The former head of the national airline had asked the special criminal court( SCC) to stop the proceedings against him in connection with the first part of the case concerning the liquidation of Camair. On instruction of the special criminal court Yves Michel Fotso repaid a 1.7 billion FCFA deposit for the liquidation of Camair into a trust account at the Cameroonian treasury in the ministry of finance. Monies which alafnet.com understands has never been paid to the liquidators by the Minister of finance more than a year since the SCC took the decision,reasons the file liquidation file is still opened.
Recall that at the hearing on the 3rd of November , 2015, Yves Fotso currently serving 25 years in prison for embezzlement claimed to have already paid 856 million CFA francs to the Treasury, 02 checks of 99.5 million each representing the sum total of 199.000.000 FCfa to the Exchequer of order,according to the settlement agreement signed between the prosecution at the SCC and defense in August,14, 2013.In total, the Michel Fotso had paid 1. 085 billion and 665 million FCFA, amounting to Fcfa 1,765 billion under the transaction protocol agreement.
Having paid off his debts he has waited for the decision of the minister of justice Laurent Esso to no avail.The keeper of the Seals had to in-writing send a letter to the Attorney General requesting him to order the prosecution to be uplifted. But that has not happened because current minister of finance is yet to pay the liquidator of Cameroon airlines.
