On February 25, 2017, the National Union for Democracy and Progress (UNDP) will hold its ordinary congress, the 6th of its kind after the 5th which took place in 2012. According to sources, there will be the re-election Members of the central committee of the party headed by Bouba Bello Maigari

The newspaper Le Jour of 13 January 2017, which also relays this information, says it has been confirmed  by Mohamadou Talba, the UNDP’s national communications secretary during a telephone conversation. He said the congress  will also deal with the renewal of all the structures of the party.

“We are in the midst of the preparations, I must say that such a congress takes place every 5 years. After the congresses of 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, it is normal to organize one in 2017 according to our statutes “, he added.

The news daily, adds that one can not talk about the stakes of this congress of the UNDP when we know that it will be held shortly before the presidential election of 2018 in Cameroon. “Through congress feeds a lot of recriminations and also many hopes. Indeed, several activists will probably benefit from this conclave to ask the national president Bello Bouba Maigari the news of the platform with the RDPC, “writes the daily.

It must be said that a good number of militants of the UNDP think that this allied party of the CPDM must be autonomous to better foresee the next electoral deadlines.

Mohamadou Talba told the daily Le Jour that this congress is the one that will dictate the prospects for 2018.

However, the congress on February 25 will allow for the re-election of Bello Bouba Maigari, the party’s national president.
