Cameroon:Biya decrees Monday 26th of December public holiday

The president of the Republic of Cameroon Mr. Paul Biya has signed a  decree ordering Monday 26th of December is a public  holiday.According to decree,the weekend from Saturday, December 24, 2016, will be longer than expected, because of the celebration of the Nativity celebrated every December 25 by the Christian community world wide.

This years Christmas falls on Sunday. And to allow Catholic and Protestant faithful to recover after this annual celebration, the President of the Republic decreed yesterday Friday December 23rd, an order declaring the day of Monday, December 26, 2016 a non-working day throughout the national territory .




By signing this presidential decree,Mr.Paul Biya has applied the law of  December,7th 1973,  which states that when a civil holiday is celebrated on a Sunday, the following day is assimilated to this holiday.

Cameroonians will therefore resume work in their respective offices on Tuesday 27 December 2016.
