Cameroon:English version OHADA law handed to Biya

According to an article in the Daily Cameroontribune published Nov. 30, 2016, of which optained a copy,the Minister of State, Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso handed,copies of the English version of the OHADA law to the president of the Cameroon Bar Association law Society  Mr. Jackson Ngnie Kamga.

A vigorous handshake took place between the two personalities . This ceremony follows the audience granted on Monday by the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, on behalf of the Head of State, the Permanent Secretary of OHADA, Prof. C. Sossa Dorothé .

The latter handed to the attention of the head of state, the officail English version of the OHADA Treaty and all its bi-laws .

According to the Minister of state ,Laurent Esso, the publication of this working ducomment was made possible by a long working process which began in 1997.Laurent Esso added that in addition to this hard copy, the electronic version is available on the website of the Ministry of Justice. “We are willing to collaborate and dialogue with the Bar, to find appropriate solutions to your concerns,” reiterated Minister of State, Laurent Esso.

“We look forward to the successful conclusion this translation process, after claims by our English colleagues. Obviously when we receive a working document in another language  more control is required.Our Anglophone colleagues have expressed many claims that are under investigation. Consultations are ongoing and we trying to find short-term solutions, “says Mr. Jackson Ngnie Kamga, president of the Bar of Cameroon’s lawyers.
