Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana (the first “colony” to attain independence south of the Sahara) rose from the prison to the presidency of Ghana. So too were Jomo Kenyatta, Nelson Mandela, Jerry Rawlings, etc. Robert Mugabe is said to be the most learned head of state in Africa (or could one say in the world?). He obtained six degrees while in prison.
If Camerounese authorities in their telling shortsightedness believe they are ruining anyone by false imprisonment, they may wish to re-read history. On the contrary, they inadvertently fertilize those persons’ popularity.
The end-result of course is obvious.
