WATER CRISIS ROCKS YAOUNDE CENTRAL PRISON
Yesterday 19/4/17, our brothers held up in the Dungeons of LRC were graced by the visit of the UN COMMISSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS (UNCHR).
Among others, they wanted to find out three principal things:
1- Conditions of detention
2- respect of their basic rights
3- legal representation
Senator Penn, Mancho Bibixy and Ngalim Felix amongst other speakers evoked the problem of lack of portable water which has rocked the prison for more than three days making life a little bit unbearable.
Most of our brothers are forced to succumb to the heat and filth since there isn’t water to bath or drink. The few who can afford Bottled water now use it to bath.
The next main issue the case of two comrades who are so sick and need to be evacuated or release so that their families could give them the due attention they deserve. The boys out of frustration and anger started talking and shouting that the registrar of the Prison had to ask that they be taken back to their cells
