French Ambassador to Cameroon, Gilles Thibault, announced on Tuesday 10 October 2017, the imminent opening of a supermarket of the Carrefour in the heart of the city of Douala.
“Soon will be the opening of the Carrefour Market of Bonamoussadi, in Douala. It is expected to creat 350 direct jobs and develop a chain of agricultural value , “wrote Gilles Thibault who took office on September 17th, 2016 on his Twitter account, with photos showing work on a large construction site which alafnet.com can not confirm if the construction site on the photo on his twitter account is in the economic capital of Cameroon,Douala.
After Douala, Carrefour is expected to move to the city of Yaoundé where it plans to invest nearly 30 billion CFA francs in the construction of a state-of-the-art shopping center in the Ekoudou district.
The construction work, it is said, will be carried out by the Cameroon Real Estate Management Company (Sogimcam) and the shopping center should be delivered in the first quarter of 2019. Cfao Retail, a partner of the Carrefour brand during a visit to Central and Western Africa in April signed with the Cameroon government a long-term lease agreement of 3.5 hectares piece of land.
In addition to contributing to the promotion of certain local products, CFAO’s large distributions in Cameroon will open doors to its partner Carrefour to the entire CEMAC zone.
