Mayor Ekema Patrick
Mayor Ekema Patrick and his collaborators of the Buea Council have engaged on a spending spree to rally more than 400 traders to march at Bongo Square for the 20th May charade. Sources in the Buea municipality reveal that the Trader’s Unions are faced with the hard choice of either obeying the deceptive plans of Ekema and facing the wrath of the population; or standing by popular calls for boycott and suffering persecution from the Council authorities.
Some traders confessed that they fear for their lives and their businesses because the state is unable to protect them after using them for publicity. ‘We will be left at the mercy of those we have betrayed’, they lamented. It is not clear if the traders will respond positively to these calls.
Alafnet.com has also gathered that more than 30million Francs CFA is being spent for mobilization and festivities leading to this day. The Mayor would use this occasion to celebrate his recent distinction as ‘officer of the order of merit’ awarded to him by his colonial master for outstanding suppression of the desires of his people.
This mayor has not developed his municipality in any significant way. The supply of water is periodic, roads are getting bad with the population continuously being forced to wear the CPDM banner in order to survive.
