A male suicide bomber detonated explosive devices targeting a CJTF checkpoint in Ramirgo village in Askira/Uba Local Government Area.
CJTF leader in Mussa District Stephen Apagu told SaharaReporters that a man in his early 20s stormed the checkpoint with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and successfully detonated them. The five injured CJTF members have been taken to Uba General Hospital.
“We lost four of our members today when a male suicide bomber detonated Improvised Explosive Devices at check point in Ramirgo village,” Mr. Apagu said.
A CJTF member in the community, Ishaiku Dawa, who participated in the rescue exercise, told Reuters by phone that the bomber targeted the vigilantes at the gate of the market.
But police commissioner Aderemi Opadokun, while confirming the bomb attack in a phone message to journalists, put the casualty figure at five, with three dead and two injured. He said the attack took place at about 10:45 AM Saturday morning.
