I hear many people saying that Anglophone MPs and Senators should resign their positions and come back home now. I am of the opinion that this is not necessary because they cannot and they don’t need to. This problem will be solved by time.
The present crisis has made it difficult for anyone to envisage any kind of elections being allowed to take place in the Southern Cameroon s under the Biya regime until total separation is achieved. No one will be allowed to go and register to vote anywhere in the Southern Cameroon between now and 2018. No political party will be allowed to campaign anywhere in the Southern Cameroon whether it is CPDM or SDF UNDP or PAP or any other political party because i twill be a big joke to be conducting elections when the Southern Cameroons is on its way out.
What this means is the following
1. Presidential elections : The presidential campaign of 2018 shall be limited to the 8 francophone regions and Biyas successor shall be chosen from there. It is absolutely essential that the Angophone regions should stay away from this election because the winner must understand that he shall sit down and negotiate total separation with the Southern Cameroons which has chosen not to participate in such elections any more.
2. Parliamentary elections : There shall no longer be any parliamentary elections in the Southern Cameroons to chose legislators to go to the National Assembly in Yaounde. The parliamentary elections shall also be limited to the 8 francophone regions. What this means is that the current MPs from the Southern Cameroons will be the last to sit in the National Assembly in Yaounde and when their terms expire that will be the end. They will have no choice but to come back to the Southern Cameroons and wait for the Southern Cameroons to conduct legislative elections for their own House of Assembly in Buea. If Mr Biya extends the tenure of the National Assembly Southern Cameroonians going to Yaounde shall be doing so on their own and not as representatives of the people of the Southern Cameroons.
3. Senatorial elections : The Senatorial elections shall also be limited to the 8 francophone regions because the municipal councils in the Southern Cameroons shall not be allowed to participate in the choosing of any Senators. What this means is that the current Senators from the Southern Cameroons will be the last to sit in the Senate in Yaounde and when their terms expire that will be the end.
4. Municipal elections ; There shall be no new municipal elections and the current occupants in the various councils shall be allowed to remain in their positions until the Southern Cameroons conducts its own municipal elections. But they shall not run the councils on the banner of any political party.
